first name last name get reversed when importing

I exported a .pst file from outlook 2003 contacts and imported it into my
tablet Pc with outlook 2000
In outlook 2003 I had settings as show first name Last Name,
In my outlook 2000 I also have all setting as show first name last name

but when the file is imported outlook 2000 reverses them to Last name First
Name

It will also not even load into outlook 2002

Why do Microsoft find it difficult to write programs that will share simple
names and addresses with their own programs

This is one of the many reasons you never use export and import to transfer
Outlook data.
If you want your data to remain intact, copy the PST file and open it in the
other installation. Information on how to transfer Outlook data correctly is
posted here daily.

Hi Russ
Thanks for your reply have now done that but it only gives message saying
not compatible with version 2000
Is there anywhere that a simple explanation and instructions is posted
I have started to look through the 109 pages of posts but my time is limited

I would have thought having bought "Office 2003 Pro" for £360 it should not
be this much trouble getting names and addresses into previous versions of
its own software ?

Thanks for your time and trouble

Outlook 2003 PST files are not compatible with earlier versions. You must
first create a PST file in "Outlook 97-2002" format and copy your data into
that file.
