I have an older firewire card I got with a program, may ulead video. It has
a TI chip on it. When installed on XP, XP requires a manual shutdown or it
simply only reboots. Can't find a driver for it so far.

Pull the card and write down the markings on the chip, for example it
might be one of these:

Then when you have the chip number do a Google search for cards using that
chip, and seek those card's driver(s).

It is none of those and I wrote to TI. They said they don't support or have
anything to do with these cards. I have no numbers that resemble these.

What are all the markings on the chip?
If you post them here perhaps someone would be able to assist.

Not to second guess you, but are you sure it's using a TI chipset? I ask
because I see a link with Ulead SW bundled with a firewire card using an
NEC chipset,
http://www.softwareandstuff.com/CRD10134.html
and here's one that appears to have a via chipset:

Here's one with a TI chipset, followed by 3 manufacturer's pages
(Koutech):

This was an older program.
005042e10240bdcd
51005-7000 rev 1.3
These are numbers I found on the board.
My computer tells me it's a TI firewire card or chipset.
TI claims no association.
Seems like at the time it was connected to a company that began with an A,
but I can't think at the moment what it was. Maybe I'll think of it later or
I may have it mixed up with an old SCISI card for my UMAX scanner.

I couldn't find anything, perhaps someone else can.

Does the card work? I'd think it less likely a driver problem if it's
working using the Microsoft bundled driver than some older NT driver.
Also if you haven't updated the system with any service packs that might
be something to try, though be sure you make a restorable backup in case
it's needed.

Seems to be working just fine. I don't know if newer cards do anything
different.
