Firewire problem

I have just bought a camera and a firewire kit. I have
installed the card but XP is no detecting the camera when
i plug it in. Any one have any ideas?
 
Presume the card is installed correctly... and was detected when XP
restarted OK.

Is the camcorder connected to the firewire card and turned on in VCR mode?
Which make and model of digital camcorder?

Laura,

did you get anywhere with you problem. Ihave a Sony
Camcorder and can't get XP to recognise it via a firewire
connection.
