Firewire Device and Windows Vista Ultimate

Rob

Greetings.

This has probably been asked before, but I could not find a thread with my
specific issue.

I have an Seagate External USB/FireWire Hard Drive. XP recognized the
FireWire connection just fine, however Vista does not.

Device Manager shows the device as being compatible when I plug in the IEEE
1394 interface. No errors. But Disk Management will not see the drive.

Microsoft has a KB on it. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927827/en-us)
BUT!!! It was a reg hack that does not work.

I am using the drive with the USB interface, however I would just like to
know if someone out there has figured the problem out.

Thanks for anyone's help!

Can't be of any help, but I have the same problem with a Panasonic DV2500
tape deck. Not recoginzed at all. Tried the kb927827; it did nothing. DV2500
worked perfectly with XP. All other 1394 devices (so far) are recognized.
