How can you find all the firewall software running on a
system.
windows 98SE
Its a laptop
Will send out to internet will not recieve from internet

1. Look in your installed Program (Start>Programs).
2. Ctrl-Alt-Del will show what is running.
3. Start>Run msconfig [enter] to see what is set to run at startup.

If you want more help, then a) probably you should post in a newsgroup
for Windows 98 (this one is for Windows XP); b) include a lot more
detail about your computer, your method of connection to the Internet,
your ISP, and what "will not receive from internet" actually means.

Windows 98:

Win 98 did not have a firewall built-in [Xp only just got one with SP2}.

Did you install one with Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm or other
company's product.

Only you can remember or tell what you put on your PC.

Press CTL+ALT+DEL to see what applications or tasks are running and you can
quickly determine if there is an active firewall application.

go to start control panel. internet options. go in to security .first one
click default level..second the same .third the same.fourth one same ( but
make sure it.s on high ) then click apply / ok then try again tony
 
XP had the firewall with SP1, it just wasn't turned on by default :-)
