Hi all. I will be switching from dialup to ADSL soon and
will be using a combo ADSL modem/Router with NAT and
FreeBSD Firewall.

How good will this be at protecting my network. Or should
I also get a dedicated hardware firewall?

Depends - I personally prefer hardware firewalls, but BlackIce is a very
good software one, or www.sygate.com . Also, if you use a hardware firewall,
it will do the PPPoE authentication for you so you don't have to install any
of that dreaded software.

If you have more than one computer to connect to your DSL line, a hardware
firewall is the obvious choice, too.
