How do I disconnect the firewall. I have certain web sites that I cannot

If you're thinking of the Windows firewall, just go to Control Panel,
security center, Windows firewall, change settings, and turn it off.

If you can get to the sites with other browsers, however, the problem may
well not be with the firewall, or at least not that one. Do you have more
than one installed?

Disable the firewall at your own risk. I would never disable a firewall
for the purpose of visiting a website. Which firewall are you using?

Firefox is not the only browser on Earth and may be some sites only work
with IE.
