Hi All

I have a desktop and Laptop both running XP home. I have
a Firewall installed on my desktop enabled and also the
Router firewall as well. My problems starts when I enable
the built in firewall on my Laptop. It does not show the
Desktop in View workgroup computer. Everything is checked
off in the Settings tab for the Firewall.

Any Ideas anyone?

Daniel

Hi,

you have to enable the firewall only at one place and it protects the rest of the computers. Enable the firewall where the computer is connected to the internet.

If you enalbe the firewall on all the computers then each computer will be locked from the others and access will be denied to each of them.

By design, XP's Internet Connection Firewall blocks file and printer
sharing and prevents access from other computers.

To allow file and printer sharing with the Internet Connection
Firewall enabled, open the following ports: TCP 139, TCP 445, UDP 137,
UDP 138.
