Firewall settings

Ramesh

HI,

I am configuring a personal firewall to control which files can access the
internet. Is it safe to give full access to the following files
NDIS Usermode I/O drver (ndisuio.sys)
Generic host process (svchost.exe)
NT Kernel and system (ntoskrnl.exe)
LSA Shell (lsass.exe)

These keep throwing up alerts like ndisuio.sys has received broadcast packet
from remote machine.

svchost is trying to broadcast to 239.255.255.250 etc.

Is it ok to disable their access to the internet?

Could somebody please clarify please?

Thanks
Ramesh

You can disable the SSDP Discovery Service using the Services Managment
Console from Administrative Tools in order to get rid of this warning.

Hi Kenrick,

I did disable the SSDP Discovery service but NDIS User broadcast message
still appears, though some of the other messages seem to have disappeared.

Anything else I can do?

Thanks
Ramesh
