Firewall settings :Trusted vs. Internet

Home networking question. Two computers sharing a cable connection thru a
router. If I set the routers IP(192.168.x.x) address as trusted in my
software firewalls on the computers, it makes communication between the
computers much easier, but does this also make them more vulnerable to
attack from the wan side of the router.
Hope this makes sense kind of new at this.

If you setup your firewalls to trust your router, and a bad guy were to spoof
the router in his attack, then you would be vulnerable. But you'll be
vulnerable only to attacks that successfully spoof the router's IP address. Any
normal attack, from beyond the router, will carry the IP address of the
attacker, and will still be blocked.

You can probably get better advice about this issue - how real is this threat,
and how to mitigate it - from comp.security.firewalls.
