Firewall Question.

I am using Omniquad Personal Firewall. It keeps asking me if I want to allow
the program Lexpps.exe to act as a server. Does anyone know what I should do
because I thought this program was something to do with my printer and I dont
understand why it would need to act as a server. Should I allow this type of
access to all programs that ask it?

If you share your printer over a network then yes you
need to allow it. If not then you don't. It is a Lexmark
program that is installed with the printer drivers, don't
worry it's not spyware, adware, a trojan, or a virus.

Process File: lexpps or lexpps.exe
Process Name: Lexpps
Description: Background application used for the Lexmark Printer Port
Scanner. The application allows a user to share a printer over a Windows
network. Without this application, users cannot share printers. The
application is installed with other printer drivers.
Company: Lexmark International Inc
System Process: No
Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): No
Common Errors: N/A

Are you on a network? If not, do not allow lexpps.exe to act as a server.

Depending on the settings of Omniquad's Personal Firewall, and on your
network setup, you have a couple of options. First of all, if you do not need
to share the printer on a home network, don't allow it to act as a
server...at all.

Secondly, if you do have a home network, or want to keep it simple, in case
you do want to share the printer later...check to see if your FW program will
allow you to customize the server role. For example, can it be a "local
server" (allowed) but "internet server" (disallowed)? If your FW program
supports this feature, usually as simple as checking or not checking a "check
box," you can utilize your printer over your network, but still attempt to
minimize risk and intrusion.
