Firewall Problem

I am using: Trend Micro Internet security 2007 and I would like to use their
Firewall.

I would like to turn Windows Firewall off but the on and off buttons are
greyed out.

I think it is a 'Group Policy' problem but I am not sure. I am the
Administrator.

Thanks for any help,

Hi Bruce,
So do you have Trend Micro Sutie installed, if it is then the Trend Micro
Firewall Disabled Windows Firewall and it did take over to protect your
machine.
If it didn't then try this:
Open a Run command and type:
firewall.cpl click [OK] and see if you will get the Firewall Cotrol
panel.

If it is a GPO then try to see the configuration the Group Policy by runing
the this command:
gpedit.msc click [OK] on there see the settings for every user including
your self.
Another also by runing the Run command: (Credit to the MVP Ramesh)

rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132
%windir%\inf\netrass.inf

Restart Windows, and then run this command (from Command Prompt):
NETSH FIREWALL RESET
Reboot your computer and See if you can have access to turn ON or OFF the
firewall.
HTH.
Let us know.

Hi Panda Man,

I tried to correct the problem with the ON and OFF buttons being greyed out
with the Windows Firewall being stuck in the on position, by trying the
solutions that you gave me but they didn't help. As a temporary patch for
the problem, I turned the Windows firewall of in the Group policy section.
Now I can run the Trend Micro Firewall by it's self. If you can think of
anything else to try to get the Windows firewall back to it's normal
settings, I would greatly appreciate it.

BTW I have 2 other machines running with Windows Firewalls that have
useable on and off buttons.
Maybe I have installed one too many of MS Security fixes or
upgrades on my problem machine.

Thanks to all, for your help.
Scanner.
