Firewall not allowing connection

I just set up a clean install of XP Pro and office 2007. Now Outlook cannot
connect to my pop3 mail server.
On another machine with Office 2003 and an older install of XP Outlook works
fine. I also have an Exchange Server in house; I can connect to Exchange
fine in both cases. However when I add POP3 mail to the same profile (I even
tried a separate profile) I get the error cannot connect to mail.

If I turn off the firewall it seems to work. The firewall has the exception
for Outlook. What else can I check?

Terry,

Set the firewall to allow port 25 & 110, which are the basic ports used for
POP3 access unless you are using SSL then it could be different. Here are 3
popular free e-mail providers & their port settings

Gmail:

SMTP: 465
POP: 995

Yahoo:

SMTP: 587
POP: 110

Other:

SMTP: 25
POP: 995

I hope this helps,
