firewall and vpn

Hello.

I don't know much about firewalls. I have a client who has a W2000 Server
and it is VPN Server. So, his router has the port 1723 addressed to the
W2000 Server (the vpn uses the PPTP protocol).

Now he has installed a 3Com Office Connect 25 firewall. The firewall has the
port 1723 addressed to the W2000 Server too. But the VPN doesn't work.

How should I install the firewall in order to get the VPN keeps on working?

Thanks,

B.T.

PPTP requires TCP port 1723 to be allowed through the firewall, as well as
protocol 47 ( GRE )

Some firewalls may call this something akin to VPN pass-through. Once you
can allow GRE to get through the firewall, you should be set.

GRE is not a port, but rather a protocol. you need to be able to pass all
protocol 47 traffic
