For a long time, I've been using Omar Khan's very old
middleclicknocollapse extension, but it's incompatible with Firefox
1.5. It prevented the pulldown bookmarks menu from collapsing when a
bookmark was middle-clicked, very useful when I wanted to open several
bookmarks without having to open the menu over and over. Mostly I used
it when picking multiple items in a live bookmark. Does anyone know of
another extension with similar functionality?

Did you try the method of editing config files within the extension to
increase the max-version setting?

It's unnecessary, as Mr. Khan saw fit to set the maxversion to 2004.
The extension won't install because some chrome cannot be registered.

Well, now I've got it working. Whatever chrome registration is, the
method for it changed with Fx 1.5. It needed a chrome.manifest file it
didn't have. By staring at some tutorials on the web and staring at
what was already in the XPI file, I somehow was able to make a
chrome.manifest that worked the first time. I don't even care that I
don't understand anything I did; all that matters to me is that it
works!

It's open source. Why don't you submit your "chrome.manifest" to the
author of the extension for his use?

If I can find contact info for him, I guess I will. If not, I'll post
at The Extensions Mirror to see if anyone there wants to pick it up.
