How do I temporarily disable microsoft firewall so that i can install a virus
protection program?

It shouldn't prevent an install, nor the download. But there are a few
ways to disable it:

- Open Control Panel, Windows Firewall.

- Open Network components, right-click the proper component, click
Properties, Advanced tab, Settings button.

- Open Network components, click "Change Windows Firewall settings" (in
the left column under Network Tasks).

You shouldn't have to disable the native XP firewall to install an AV.
Is it just an AV or a full security suite ?
