finding and saving.pst file from Outlook

I am having a heck of a time transfering the information from my computer to
a new laptop.

I have installed Outlook into the laptop

I have found the back up (guess that's what it is) of Outlook on my
computer, it comes up as Outlook.NK2 but will not let me open it or do
anything with it. I saved it to a USB stick, stuck that into the laptop...
and have it there.. but it won't import into Outlook.

Basically, I need to get all my info/files/emails from Outlook on my
computer into my laptop.

I am not tech savvy and this is driving me crazy.

Any help would be appreciated... in "normal" language please!

Thanks,
Jenny

Thanks, that is a good site

However... still having issues.

I've found the pst file but it won't copy. I get an error message saying
"cannot copy outlook: the process cannot access the file because another
process has locked a portion of the file"

any ideas?

Do you have Outlook open? If this is the case, it's got the PST in use (as
it should). Simply close Outlook and make sure it's closed by using the Task
Manager > Processes tab. Arrange the processes alphabetically and look for
outlook.exe running. Sometimes it may take 15 seconds or so for Outlook to
fully close.

If there are any integrations with Outlook such as FAX software, synch
software (for a handheld), etc. this may hold Outlook open even though it
appears to be closed. You'll see it continue to run in the processes without
ending.

Its closed, however I do have it set up with my blackberry.

I have looked and looked...may sound silly but where is the Task Manager?
Do I need to shut off the blackberry? How can I access this?

BTW... THANKS for all your help so far, I really appreciate it.

To access the Task Manager, you can either press Control + Alt + Delete and
choose the Task Manager from the 6 buttons offered, or right-click on your
task bar (usually found at the bottom of your monitor screen).

If the Blackberry is connected, it could be holding the PST open. Antivirus
scanners and search programs can also hold it open.

the blackberry is shut off and not connected
I turned off the anti virus
No search engines or anything else running
