Where is the option to search for a file containing a certain string
or part of it please? I can only find find file(s) containg a search
string.

TIA

Len

Can you ask this again, another way? The second sentence seems to
contradict the first.

The normal search facility in Vista will search for documents containing
whatever string you enter into the search box in the Start menu.

Obviously it can't search on just part of the string you type in because it
isn't telepathic about which part you are interested in. If you search on
"the quick brown fox" you don't want it to find every document with "the" in
it, do you?

I'm sure I've misunderstood your request. Perhaps you could explain it
again.

Vista will search within text files supported by the index engine, these
include popular formats such as .txt, rtf, .doc

I have an email with the key for my CD of office 2007 and I am entering in
the search box part of the string or the whole string with and without
qoutes and in all ways and places I can search even non indexed and it would
not find it. I know whre it is... but I can not have any trust in the search
engine if I dont understand what it will search and what not.
Please help
