Find out how many MB have I downloaded

Is there a way to find out how much data I have downloaded over the last few
weeks?

I know that the dial-up "connectoid" or whatever its called displays the
number of bytes
sent and recieved for that session, but once the line drops that info is
lost.

If the info is not available, is there a logging feature in Windows I can
switch on which will keep a
count of number of bytes downloaded from now on? Or perhaps a free/shareware
program to do this?

(I'm investigating the feasibility of connecting my PC to the internet via a
mobile phone tariff
which charges per MB transferred.)

as far as i know you would need 3rd party software to do
that, net limiter keeps a record of all down loads. try a
google search for it.

So I came across MagiTime from Magistone Systems at
http://www.geocities.com/magistone/magitime.htm . It has heaps of really
useful features so I can now monitor my bandwidth usage, both upload and
download, on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis to keep a track of my
Internet usage and charges. So now I have no more surprises when I get my
monthly ISP account. MagiTime is freeware too.

It that the same person who doesn't work on pcs but rather just sits at
a desk re-publishing/writing articles that say to create a separate
partition for your page file on your single HDD to increase performance?
