I am looking to find data in a workbook which may be contained within any of the 30 odd worksheets within the workboo

Am I missing a simple solution

please advise

I use flexfind (http://www.bmsltd.ie/MVP/MVPPage.asp) which greatly enhances
the built-in searches of Excel.

The built in search routine (Ctrl+F) is a powerful tool that should mee
your needs.

Open the Options and you may search by Sheet or Workbook along wit
several other options.

Those options were added in xl2002. But in xl2k, you could group your
worksheets, ctrl-A to select all the cells on each grouped sheet and then do the
Find.

But this didn't work very well in xl97.

Jan Karel Pieterse's Flexfind works in all those versions.
