Find data in XL files

For searching for particular data within a worksheet or workbook, I have no
problem. However, how can I search for particular data within a collection
of files?

I have tried Windows Find and run some tests, but it doesn't reliably find
the data. Perhaps this has something to do with the way XL stores the data?

Is there any solution to this problem?

I should have mentioned that I am using Windows 2000, with both XL 97 and XL
2000.

I had a look there. It seems to confirm what I thought - Windows can't find
stuff in Excel files.

That's hardly joined-up computing. Maybe Bill Gates should detail some
people to have a look at the problem. <g>
