find and replace fails in Word 2007

Although it worked before in Word 2007 ( home and student edition) with
Service Pack 1, using find or find and replace after typing in the item to be
found and clicking NEXT the second time causes the program to stop working
and shut down. No error message is given. It looks as though it just gets
hung up. I have no macros that I know of. At least when I look in the macro
section it is empty.

Hi Emprof,

What is the string you're searching for in the document?

There are some issues with the search engine pegging the CPU to 100% useage, and it appears that the Esc key, but not a mouse click,
is often able to break out of the failed search loop, but I don't recall Word shutting down from this.

When it shuts down are you getting the a 'send to Microsoft' prompt and if so does it have a 'more information' link does it show an
AppCrash value?

Is this in any document or only certain ones.
