Finally got MM2 to install

I finally got MM2 to install. I had several services on my machine disabled. Restarting certain ones finally allowed MM2 to install. Specifically:
Error Reporting Service
Distributed Link Tracking Client

I'm not sure which made it work, but one of the two made my day.
 
Thanks for the post Steve.... I added your info to the Can't Install or Run
MM2 page of my site.

Out of curiosity, why did you have them disabled?
