Final markups

In 2003 there was way for you to make final markups a default so that for
every document you do it does it. Is there a way to default it in 2007

If there are no tracked changes or comments in your document, then Final
view would look the same as Final Showing Markup view. Word 2002 and
later open in Final Showing Markup view to let you know that your
document contains tracked changes and/or comments, and to save you
possible grief from inadvertently sending the document out that way.
From the wording of your question, Word's default setting to open
documents in Final Showing Markup view seems to be what you want.

Final will be the default only if the document contains no markup. This is
for your protection.

Changing to Final view only hides tracked changes and comments in the
document, but does not delete them. If you use the buttons on the
Reviewing toolbar to accept all tracked changes and delete all comments
from the document, then Final Showing Markup view would look the same as
Final view. I think this would be the safest route for you.

Based on your contributions to this newsgroup thread, I strongly
recommend you do not change Word's default setting to open documents in
Final Showing Markup view.
