Filtering

I am trying to create a report on projects. Each report number has update
notes . I would like to only include the note with the newest date with any
given project number. The report is generated from a query. I am not sure how
to filter out for just one. note. The way the report displays right
now(wrongly) is multiple instances of a project number for each note
associted with it.

Create a totals query (sideways M button) with the following:

Group By [Project Number]
Max [Date]

Then link this to the original data source in the query for the report where
both values are equal.

Sorry, I am fairly new at this. Where/How do I create the Totals Query?

Create a query like you normally would and then look for the button in the
toolbar under the top menu that looks like a sideways M. It's the summation
symbol, hence totals query. You add fields to the body of the query as in a
select query, but another criteria row is available called Total. There, you
can select whether you want to perform what are called aggregate functions on
the field.
