Hi,

Please tell me if a column can be filtered based on the value in the
middle of a word.

For eg.

Col A
****_M_****
****_M_****
****_M_****
****_M_****
****_M_****
****_B_****
****_B_****
****_B_****
****_B_****
****_B_****

Now i want to filter this column so it show the cells with ****_M_****
in it. If the filtering is not possible then, please let me know any
other way.

Thanks in advance.

Data>Filter>Autofilter>Custom

Use the "Contains" parameter.

thanks for the reply.

I tried doing the same, but the col does not return any. is there any
specific value i have to input to get the values?

With your example data enter just M in the "contains" dialog box.

To narrow the search, enter _M_

If that is not your real data, post some actual entries.

Hi,

Data looks some this like this:

HTF7000 engine line_M_AIDC_085387876_3033130-8

_cell unknown_M_TIMKEN (C)_73964496_3822584-1

_Cell 18_M_CAPO INC._85387876_WB3827368-1

_Cell 18_M_CAPO INC._85387876_WB3827379-1

_HTF7000 engine line_M_DONLEE_248679698_3035689-1

_cell unknown_M_D-VELCO_008396459_3826756-3

Now when the filter is applied, based on the filter value, _M_ data has
to be dispalyed. is it possible???

Thanks,

Try autofilter, select custom and select contains and then use

_M_

I used the data in a test column along with some cells with non-conforming data.

No problem filtering just your data using "contains" _M_

Am I misunderstanding what you want the results to be?

If you wish you could send the workbook to my email address and I'll have a look
at it.

Change the DOT and AT to appropriate punctuation marks.
