filter form by record in subform

good morning access gods:

here's my quandary...i would like to "easily" filter a form by subform
records. for example:

main table/form contains company information (name, address, etc)
sub table/form contains product information (apples, pears, etc)

how do i get my form to show me all companies that sell apples, within the
context of the form, without basing the main form on a query that links the
two tables?

The article explains how to set the RecordSource of the main form to an
INNER JOIN statment, so it contains only records that have a match in the
subform.
