filling a side table

I'm trying to fill a 'table' so that the left hand border follows the
content on the right side - let me try that again - I have a left hand
border made for a website...I created a table with 2 colums - the left hand
colum I put the border in as both the table background and the cell
background - the right hand column contains an article...it goes past the
left hand border - I thought that the border would just repeat itself but
can't figure out how to get it to do so...can anyone help?

I checked the source code....had so many table codes it was ridiculous -
redid that page and all is now well - thanks for reminding me to LOOK AT THE
CODE when all else fails

LOL. Amazingly enough, that's where all answers are. There are just so MANY
problems that connot be solved or diagnosed without going into the code....
