fill color bug?

Please help with this weird problem.

I'm in the worksheet and I type data into a bunch of cells , then I go
back and highlight a few cells (or the whole row sometimes) and use
fill color. In this example I use the color gray.

Then, I go to the next row and enter more data. This row I don't want
any color. BUT, when I tab to the next cell, the cell now has the gray
background fill color! I then go back and highligh that cell and choose
no fill, but the next cell after tabbign out of, gets the gray color
again! What the heck is going on?

Try

Tools/Options/Edit, uncheck the "Extend list formats and formulas"
checkbox.

That is a standard function in Excel!
