If you want to uninstall any of the "hotfixes" (updates) you downloaded
from MS Windows Update, this is the type of file that Add/Remove
Software uses to do it. The KBnnnnnn is the identification of the
Microsoft Knowledge Base article that describes the particular hotfix in
question.
If you're sure that you will never want to uninstall this fix (and you
shouldn't -- this is [one of] the critical updates to deal with the
Blaster virus), you can delete this file.
"Hotfixes" are the updates you installed from the Windows Update
website. Do not be tempted to remove them or you will uninstall
the actual updates.
If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.
THey are folders (not files) containing the files needed to Uninstall
Hotfix Windows Updates. An entry in Add/Remove Programs for 'Windows
HotFix Q nnnnnn' corresponds to a folder Windows\$NTUninstallQnnnnnn$
for the fix described at http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;nnnnnn
If you decide you will not want to uninstall a fix (and if all is
running smoothly you probably won't) then delete the folder. If you
then try in Add/remove, to Remove that one, it will fail, and you will
be offered the option of removing the entry there
