"Files stored On This Computer" link missing in My Computer

I recently booted my computer to find that the "Files
Stored on This Computer" link is missing from my
computer. I have searched through the newsgroups and
tried other solutions but none have worked, please help
me!!! I am running Windows XP Pro on a Dell Inspiron 500m
laptop

Download and install tweakui for xp and use its my computer options to turn
that feature back on.

What do you see there in My Comp.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
and make sure there is no value of NoSharedDocuments.

Also make sure there is a list of valid users and with valid folders here
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DocFolderPaths

Also what is under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders

hope this will help, also there was no "no shared
documents" key in registry and the doc folder paths
looked right

Everything looks fine.

Try typing
rundll32 mydocs.dll,PerUserInit

Which is how the MyDocs gets initialised for a new user.
