Files not found

A number of excel files have been saved in a folder. When
attempting to open any of the files a message comes
up "file not found". If a search is carried out the files
are found but trying to open from the search window gives
the same respose. If one of the files is copied and
pasted in another location, the file will open normally.
Has anyone any ideas as to why this is happening.

Hi
how are you trying to open the files (from within Excel or using the
Windows Explorer)
 
In Excel Go to tools Options General and uncheck Ignore other Applications
