Hi,

I need a free software that calalogues my files/CDs. I prefer a portable
software.

Thank you very much

CDVista looks like a good program, but appears to be shareware. This
from their site:

"CDVista version 1.00 or higher is distributed as trial software
(shareware). A shareware program is an evaluation version of a
software, which you can try out to make sure that it meets your needs
before buying it. The trial period is 30 days. After that, if you
decide that you want to continue using the program, you must pay the
registration fee. We will then send you a registration key, which you
use to turn the shareware version into a registered version."

Cliff's Notes freeware newsletter just recently posted a review of a
freeware app called "Visual CD."

It's about a third way down the page. Don't know about size, tho.

If you want really, really simple, but decent, you could try Cathy.
It's about 28k. Not much to it, but it does give you a nice, fast list
of files.

I personally like very much InSideCat Lite

Again, tho, don't know if it'll fit your size requirement.

To me, InSideCat Lite is about the best you can find, freeware-wise.
Here's a list of features from the above site:
"Complete and automatic cataloguing of any PC disc (any letter drive)
or folder.
Cataloguing of CD-Audio disks automatic (Internet or Cd-Text) or
manual.
Compressed files support. Even 14 formats!.
Multimedia files: five types, 22 formats supported (more than 38
variants).
Searching according to all data catalogued (also multimedia data).
Powerful textual search functions: five different types.
It allows adding descriptions to the files, folders and catalogues, and
searches them.
Emergency de-compressor for the 14 formats supported, including EXEs.
"On-the-fly" decompression of nested files for opening them, including
EXEs.
Four printing functions (user defined). Four exporting funtions (ASCII
format).
Files are directly opened in five ways: just insert the disc and click.

Possibility to organise the catalogues in a collections tree.
Intuitive and versatile. Similar to Windows Explorer in detail view.
No third-part software dependent: it has "built-in" routines for all
file formats.
Fast. Installation/deinstallation. Works under Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4,
2000, XP, 2003."
