Files and Treansfer Wizard

While attempting to use FSTW (thru a direct cable connection), I continue to
have
a problem at the "set up your serial connection" page. Auto detect begins to
run on the old and new computer but just continues to run and cannot detect
each others
serial ports. Error message reads: "Wizard could not connect to the other
computer....please make sure the cable is properly connected". Checking
network connections shows both computers as connected. What do I need to do
to get this wizard to work???

It is more reliable to run FAST on the 'old' computer and write the file to a
local hard drive. Copy this to a CD and then run FAST on the new computer.

In my experience with several PCs, to run FAST and attempt to transfer files
via serial or parallel connection usually fails, even if the connection is
properly configured.

If you wish it it also possible to temporarily istall the old PCs hard drive
in the new PC and import the files direct from the old PCs hard drive.
