Files and Settings Transfer Wizard

Hi Folks,

I just bought a new Dell computer and am trying to use the "Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard" to move files from my old computer to my new.

The transfer wizard is already installed on my new Dell computer. But I
also need to run a "wizard disc" on my old computer. The transfer wizard
makes it clear that it will create one for me to burn. But the problem is
that it only gives me the choice of creating this in either my G: , H: , I:
or J: . These drives are media stick drives. the drop down box will not
give me the option of creating the disc in my F: which is my Writable drive.

Can anyone tell me waht to do?
thanks so much for your help.

Hi

In order to transfer files you need to connect the two computers via
crossover cable, plugged to each computer's wire Network card, and set the
Network's File Sharing Configuration.

If the Wiz. does not work for you you can set the Sharing Manually.

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what is allowed
to be shared.

I don't think it's possible to write the Wizard Disk to a writeable
CD. Here are some other possibilities that might work for you:

1. If you have a Windows XP CD-ROM, run the FAST Wizard from it on the
old computer. Insert the CD-ROM, click "Perform additional tasks",
and click "Transfer files and settings".

2. If you have a USB flash drive, connect it to the new computer, run
the FAST Wizard, and create a Wizard Disk on the USB flash drive.

I was told to use the memory card from my digital camera. Worked just fine.
Make sure you download all the photos first.
