Files and Settings Transfer Wizard - strange status file...

I am trying to restore my files but the Wizard does not recognise the files.

It either claims that the files are not there or, if I transfer them to DVD,
that I have not inserted "Disk 1".

I think it's something to do with the "status" file - it is 16 bytes long,
according to Properties.

Is there any way of reconstructing this file or bypassing it?

The most reliable way of using FASTW in my experience is to create a
separate folder (I usually name this folder Transfer) for it and tell
FASTW to save the data there. It will then create its own USMT2.UNC
folder within the first one for the actual data.

When restoring the files I just point FASTW at the Transfer folder and
it then finds everything. If I point it at the USMT2.UNC folder there
can be problems similar to what you are describing.

Good luck

Thanks, but I've tried that - it does not even access the hard drive - it
states that the drive does not contain stored information, and implies that
the folder does not exist - :S

But thank you for the advice - :)
