Files and Settings Transfer help?

I have been using my Media Center PC for over a year as Administrator with
no password. I thought this would be fine, but now I need an account with a
password so that I can log in remotely from my notebook pc. I have a ton of
stuff shared, including my whole CD collection in Musicmatch Jukebox, my
genealogy files (20 years worth of research!), all my digital pictures since
1996, etc. I have my settings just the way I want them as Administrator.
But it would make more sense to have all this under an account named Sherry.
How do I do it? I have never used the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
I started out, and it scared me by examining my genealogy files =:-O. So I
thought I'd ask you guys first before I do anything else.
1. Can I use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to accomplish this?
2. Is there a better way (how)?
3. Does Files and Settings Transfer remove or change anything from the "old"
computer/user? Could I use this to backup everything to DVDs whether or not
I use it as a transfer mechanism?
4. I thought about just renaming Administrator to Sherry. But I'm scared,
will this mess anything up? I created a new account named Sherry, but its
empty, I could easily delete it.

TIA,
SherryB

I am no expert in answering your question in detail. But I do know this:
before doing anything complex, ensure that you have backed up all your
personal files and folders. If anything does go wrong with any experiment you
have in mind, you will want the assurance that your files have not been lost.
You can back up to CDs, but if you have a large volume of material, you would
be well advised to use an external hard drive. Then you can drag and drop all
your personal stuff to the external drive using Windows Explorer.
