My laptop had to go back to Sony (xp pro) to be repaired. I transfered files
and settings on to my desktop (xp home) sucessfully via F & S facility. Now
when I try to send them back while executing the F & S wizard on desk top it
comes up with “cannot copy …….. outlook.pst and outcmd.dat†the very files I
need to transfer. I have tried some alternative setting in the F & S wizard
but no luck. Help

Thanks in advance

Make sure that you reinstalled the Outlook program and the CD is clean,
free of smudges or fingerprints.

Thanks for the reply but think you may have misunderstood. Have looked at
site / info but problem is not recovering corrupt files it is creation of the
file in the first place. The error message occurs when wizard is creating the
FAST file not in opening it in new laptop? The path to my pst files is
C:\Documents and Settings\John\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst any help?

Unless that's a typo, your .pst file isn't in the default
location which would be:

C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst

I'm not sure if that would cause the problem you're dealing with
but it might.

Instead of using the FAST wizard, why not just export and import
your .pst file from within Outlook?
