Filenames...ARGH!!!

I've got over 2500 music files in my shared music file that I am the
one sharing to a xbox 360, two computers, one with media center and the
other with xp home, and two laptops, both with xp. I also have xp on my
computer. So anyway, I just got this new cd and ripped it to my
computer. When I placed the ripped files into my music folder, the
filenames and pretty much exploring any files in windows really got
screwed up. Now when i explore a file, if i've played a song, the
filename has been changed EX: "Blue Oyster Cult - (Don't Fear) The
Reaper" is changed to "09 - (Don-t Fear) The Reaper". And to make
matters worse, whenever i try to rename a file, i have to exit my music
folder and then open it back up to see if it hopefully changed. The
funny thing is, this started happening when i got windows media player
11 beta or whatever the new one is. any help is greatly appriciated.

Why do you think they call it 'Beta'?
A 'Beta' is for you to try out and report any problems.

iTunes from Apple does the same sort of re-naming of music files. Maybe a
conspiracy ??

There's always a setting that is missed.

Windows Media Player 11:

1. Open Options from Tools menu (either from right-click on Windows title
bar, or click on Menubar Tools)
2. Click on Rip File Tab
3. Click on Filenames... button
4. Set the items you want included in filename (notice sample below window
when clicking each item).
