File types

Please help. Somesone changed my file format. When I try to open any
attachment in Outlook it says jpeg and opens in image. If it's an excel or
word file it still opens in image. I know how to get to file types I just
don't know what to do to resolve this.
Any help would be appreciated or web links.

I have the smae problem, but with word opening in PowerPoint. Can't find the
default to change it.
 
Thanks anyway James. Hopefully soemone will answer this question for the both
