File timestamp updated when copying to a CD-RW disk-bad

Just installed Windows XP/SP1, and now when I (or my backup software)
copy files to a CD-RW disk, *sometimes* it updates the file timestamp to
current time, instead of preserving the file's modification timestamp as
usual.

This is really confusing my backup software, among other inconveniences.
Is there a fix or a setting somewhere for this?

The drive is a Sony CRX220E1, the disk was formatted with Roxio to the
DirectCd format.

Thanks,

George

The best workaround for this is to put the files in a Compressed Folder (ZIP
file), and then burn the ZIP file onto the CD.

While that would work, it would pretty much rule out using my backup
synchronization software to do incrementatl updates.

The problem turned out to be a bug in the Roxio DirectCD software; an
update seems to have corrected the problem.

Thanks,

George
