File sorting

In ANY program, when I choose File -> Open, the system is ordering all my
files by some random order. Even if I select to order by A-Z, then open a
file, as soon as I re-open the Open file dialogue, it's reverted to non A-Z
listing.

Explorer is set to show everything as A-Z order, and it does so for all
folders, it's just the File -> Open dialogue boxes that have lost the plot.
This happens in every piece of software that has such a box, including other
microsoft products.

This is driving my crazy, as I can't instantly find the files I need to edit.

Restore Sort order in Open and Save dialogs
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_opensaveorder.htm

Or...

[[To resolve this behavior, reset the default sort order:
1. Right-click Start, click Explore and then click drive C.
2. On the View menu, click Details.
3. Click the Name column to sort items by name, press and hold down the CTRL
key, and thenquit Windows Explorer by clicking Close in the upper-right
corner of the screen.
4. Release the CTRL key.
5. Restart your computer.

NOTE: You must perform these steps exactly as they are listed. For example,
do not quit Windows Explorer by clicking Exit on the File menu. ]]

Thanks Wes, that worked a treat.
I've followed the text based fix, and also downloaded the reg file in case I
need it in the future.
