File Sharing/Permissions

I have a D-Link router that works great for sharing an
internet connection and local network. I'm stumped on a
file sharing issue.
We have two accounts on each machine
They are both setup to allow file sharing over the LAN
The Desktop can access all Laptop shared folders
The Laptop can only access one of the two Desktop folders
The Laptop can nav through the Desktop's C: drive, but
still cannot access the one profile.

Is the solution hiding in plain sight? Please help!

What are you looking for when you mean access the other profile?

While navigating through the C: drive go to Documents and Settings. In here you should see all the users. Here is where you can locate the other users My Documents folders and desktop. Some files and folders maybe hidden though.

I'm trying to access the My Documents for two different
users. Only one is accessable through the laptop, the
other gives me the "access denied" message as if the
folder is not set to share.

Benjamin,
Do you have XP home or XP pro because with XP pro you have a lot more control over who is allowed to use which share.

Try this, On the laptop add a user with the exact same name and password as the one your tring to access on the desktop. You should not have to login to this user on the laptop it just has to exist.

Additionally try removing the share on the desktop computer / my documents folder your are tring to ge into reboot and then share it again looking for any permissions settings that would lock you out. Also try sharing the parent folder such as the user name.

If this doesn't work it would be very helpful to know if you have the home or Pro version.
