Is it possible, to have two instances of the same game on one computer
(having two user accounts)?

What i want to happen, is in one user account, the basic game be there, but
on a seperate user account, i'd like the game to have a expansion pack, but
as of right now, everytime i make a new user account, it shares all program
files between them, and i can't change / add to the game without it updating
both accounts.

YES-Is the short answer; it depends on the game.
In "My Documents", 1st User, I created folder "Programs2". Installed
"Jardinains" as a test, changing install path to Programs2. Ran up a score;
Jards logs your "Highest Score". [Scored 4100 as a test run.] Made 1st User's
folder [under Documents and Settings] "Private" under Properties tab |
Sharing. Made 1st User's folder "Private" under My Computer | Files Stored on
This Computer.
Switched user to 2nd User. In THAT User's "My Documents" Folder, I created
folder "Programs3". Repeated all of the above for 2nd user, changing install
path to Programs3. [Test score 640.]
Switched back to 1st user. Jardinains appears only ONCE in Add or Remove
Programs. However, opening Jards shows my 4100 score, and Jards cannot be
removed from Add/Remove. Had to uninstall from the uninstaller in the program
folder. Also, did not check "Add a Start menu Item" during the installs.
Further, Jardinains did not make Registry entries in the Software parts of
the Registry. This may or may not make the difference.
-HTH-Luck!

Follow-up on previous post: uninstalling from one account uninstalled game
from the computer altogether.

Follow-up to follow-up: No, uninstall from 1st user only uninstalled Jards
from THAT user.

What's the game?

Usually when you install a game you might be presented with the option to
install for current user only, or all users.

In this instance you could install the same game twice for current user on
different user accounts and upgrade the one you want, (I think!)

But many installers aren't that smart and will just make the game available
to all users.

You might try installing the game on to another directory, but chances are
the installer wouldn't let you.

There might be a messy workaround using batch files and renaming
directories, it depends how bad you want this to happen.
