I used the File and settings transfer wizard to move my email to my new
OS...but, it did not restore any of my Outlook 2003 mail on the new
machine...the outlook express was restored OK, but nothing in Outlook 2003
restored.

The old machine was xp pro, and the new machine is also XP Pro.

So, I have lost all of my email (yeah I should have backed up but i
didn't ).

The img0001.dat file is 15gig, and I believe it may still contain my email
becuase the only items I selected to save in the wizard were the email - it
seems that many other people also have had this problem - and apparently
there is a tool microsoft used to provide called FASTCONV.EXE to read the
img0001.dat file contents.

But, microsoft have removed FASTCONV.EXE from their website because they no
longer support - does anyone have a copy of FASTCONV.EXE (the one which
reads the FAST output file) they could email to me? Or, any ideas on
recovering my email?

do you have access to your old machine? look for the *.pst and move it to
the new machine.

No, unfortunately I reinstalled windows xp..... :(

But, thanks for the tip.

did you reformat or just reinstall? If the directory for your old username
exists, the pst can be recovered.

it's at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

You'll need to show hidden files and folders to see all of the usernames...
