I have recently upgraded (or is it downgraded) from Office 2000 to Office XP.

Unfortunately I am finding many of my simple tasks in Office 2000 quite converluted in Office XP.

One of which is searching for files.

Is there a way of searching without using wildcards?
Previously if I was looking for a file ending in the word 'management' (e.g. office management.doc) I could just type in 'management' and all those documents would be listed. Now I have to enter *management* to find them.

True, that is an unwelcome change in the function of the File > Open dialog.
There is no other workaround in that dialog. You can still get the old
behavior in the Windows file search tool, which you can easily start with
Windows-key+F.
