File Replication

How does AD handle file replication? For example, say I have 2 servers with
a folder called public. Inside the public folder is a file called
accounts.doc The public folder is being replicated between the 2 servers.
Now, if 1 user makes a change to the accounts.doc file in server 1 and
another user makes a change to the same file in server 2, do the changes
overwrite eachother or will both changes be seen. How does AD handle this?
