File refusing to delete

I have some files which won't delete. When I drag them to the recycle bin,
nothing happens, it won't go in. I right click the file but the 'delete'
option has disappeared along with the 'rename', 'properties' options. I
select the file and press 'Delete' on my keyboard. Nothing!
I tried doing that 'del command' I keep hearing of but everytime I try it
says somelike along the lines of 'Can't find the path' or something. Maybe
i'm doing it wrong?
Can you help me?

I think there's a chance of a group policy setting or missing registry
settings for the context menu handler. There may be extensive damage to your
windows registry. More info would be needed about your system to know what it
wrong. What programs did you install prior to this problem?
 
It was a movie file my friend has sent me. I was able to view it before and I
forgot about it for a while until i had found it again and when i tried to
view it again it would open up Windows Media player but the player was blank
and nothing was seleted to play. I tried the Killbox thing and also something
along the lines of Highjackthis or something and they both didn't work.
