Windows 2000 uses ntfs permissions and EFS encryption [which requires ntfs
file system] to protect access to folders and files. Keep in mind that any
local administrator can access file/folders [possibly even EFS files] even
if they do not have permissions since they can take ownership and grant
themselves permissions. EFS encryption has some traps to be aware of
including locking the legitimate user out of their own files if they do not
back up their private EFS keys and that data is still vulnerable as long as
your EFS private keys are still on the computer when physical security can
not be assured.. --- Steve
