File Protection

I copied a large number of files that were created on one
computer to a new computer. Both run XP, although the
new one is XP Professional. All of the files have come
across as "Read Only" and I have been unable to change
the Attributes.

Where can I find the solution?
 
This is probably a silly question, but are you logged in
as administrator on the new system?

Yes, I am. I have followed the instructions on the help
screens for changing permissions but every file I create
on this PC ends up being "Read Only". How do I change
this?
